"Portuguese purl"

Estou a ver se faço o meu Knitters Geek Code. E começa por ser necessário descobrir se tricoto Continental ou English. Não fazia a menor ideia, portanto fui ver a sites, observando vídeos e fotos e tentando descobrir. Nada. Nenhum dos métodos se parecia com o que eu faço. Então, fui perguntar num fórum de tricotadeiras e descobri: o que eu faço é uma variante regional chamada "Portuguese purl". (Para os portugueses, é a velha técnica de tricotar com a lã à volta do pescoço, lançando-a com o polegar esquerdo sobre a agulha. Que torna muito mais fácil, quanto a mim, fazer revezil (purl) do que meia (knit)).

Para quem não tiver percebido, ver aqui e aqui. Eu uso a mão direita para manter a tensão do fio (enrolo o fio no dedo médio da mão direita), mas pelos vistos há quem use o pé.

I'm trying to make my Knitters Geek Code. And I must find out if I knit Continental or English. I had no idea, so I checked online, watched videos and photos and tried to find out. Nothing. None of the methods was similar to what I do. So, I asked in a knitters forum and found out: what I do is a regional variation called "Portuguese purl".

To understand what it's all about, see here and here. I use the right hand to keep the yarn tension (I wrap the yarn around the middle finger of my right hand), but it seems some people use the foot.
